Intervention day! (on last saturday!)

i wanna share about our intervention day. our project is about prevention of home accidents among children. so we did this intervention program at Kampung Selalang, Sarikei, as to educate and giving them awareness of home accidents, the prevention and also first-aid stuff. it was a hell lot of work. so we've been really really busy last week.

so yeah, that morning, we wore our red shirt, and oh yeah, we woke up at 6am coz the journey to the village would take like 45 minutes and we had loads of things to set up and everything. so yeah, i was really like =.= that morning.

when we arrived, we arranged tables and chairs and other stuff. and because our professor changed his talk about home accidents prevention, our beginning of the program was a bit haywire. the lecturers arrived too early and everything wasnt ready yet. so its really messy. we had to run here and there to patch things up. in the end, it turned out well. we performed our Dikir Barat really well (we practiced in about a week!) and we had fun.

after that, the opening ceremony was done and the carnival of home accidents prevention began! there were booths of health screening, exhibitions, and demonstrations. also the dj booth and the games booth which was so popular with the kids. and the kids in the village were so active and friendly. they really like us a lot, and tagging behind us, everyone wanted to talk to us, pulling our hands as we walked, taking pictures with us, shaking hands with us, and asking for our phone numbers and stuff. we kinda felt like stars there XD.

coz i was in the publicity comittee, i was in charge with the banner, posters and pamphlets. i was SO proud to see my arts at display. i even received loads of compliments. i really felt like a true artist :P. so at that time, i've done my work, so i joined the health screening committee. i was asked to take blood pressure, and its fun. i gave advice also XP.

so yeah, its all so fun. i joined a group of kids in the games, where you have to fill in water inside a bottle with a sponge. like you have to soak up the sponge and run to the bottle to fill it up. the first group to fill it up to the brim would win. and guess what? my team won! i was so proud of the kids and their team work~ ^.~

and then at 4pm, the carnival ended. i've managed to join the villagers weekly activity of the Poco-poco dance before we left. its kinda hard at first but once you got the hang of it, its really fun and actually simple to do! its really cool!

and we took loads and loads of pics. and i got a bit of sunburn (even with an SPF47 sunblock!) and its really tiring. but i really had loads of fun, and its really sad when we had to leave. the kids were very sad, some of them even cried. i guess they really like us a lot. they kept on hugging us and asking us to come back anytime soon. its really sad. they really managed to melt my heart down.

all in all, its really fun!!
